A LITTLE BEYOND:
Honesty and faith in God involves our whole life. It is a life-long process to become closer to him, grow in his love and become a soul that is willing to give and love in His name. God asks for this submission from us and, in doing so, asks for our whole life. He is willing to help and willing to give, but only when we give and love in return. We cannot fool Him by expecting to wait until our last moments of life to repent and turn to Him, particularly because we dont know at all when our last moments would take place; all we know is that it could be at any time. God asks for this love from us and will bless us and grant us eternal life in return, but he really asks us to live for Him and walk in the paths He has shown us. Faith is not living for the last moments of our life; our journey to Him is the work of a lifetime.

PRAYER TO CONTEMPLATE:
"Prayer is the opening of the heart to God as to a friend. Not that it is necessary in order to make known to God what we are, but in order to enable us to receive Him. Prayer does not bring God down to us, but brings us up to Him." Ellen White, Steps to Christ.
"Father, enable our minds to rise to your ineffable dwelling place. Let us find the light and direct the eyes of our soul to you. Dispel the mists and the opaqueness of the earthly mass, and shine out with your splendor. You are the serene and tranquil abode of those who persevere in their goal of seeing you. You are at the same time the beginning, the light, the guide, the way and the goal. Amen." |
